The Lyndon Outing Club

2nd Annual Fallback Festival, November 2nd, 2024

On November 2nd, the Lyndon Outing Club is bringing back their Fallback Festival for a second year! This family-friendly event combines a Chili Cookoff, Brewfest, and endurance challenge for an afternoon of fun. The Chili Cookoff draws talented cooks from across the Northeast Kingdom and beyond, and with delicious local brews from Red Barn Brewing, St. Johnsbury Distillery, and more, it’s sure to be a tasty day.

Feeling adventurous? Sign up for the Endurance Challenge starting at 10 AM to work up an appetite. Whether you’re a runner, biker, walker, or just looking for some laughs, the Fallback Ride and Run invites everyone to test their endurance on the trails. Complete as many laps as you can in 4 hours for a chance to win great prizes, or simply enjoy the trails at your own pace. Kids are welcome, too, with activities to keep them moving and having fun.

As the leaves fall and we head into stick season, this is the perfect way to embrace the moody, grey days with friends and neighbors. Celebrate with a bonfire, cornhole, and an awesome raffle thanks to local NEK and Vermont businesses. All proceeds support programming at the Lyndon Outing Club, helping maintain trails and improve access for the whole community.

Event Schedule:

  • 10 AM – 2 PM: 2nd Annual Fallback Freeride/Run on the new MTB trail
  • 1:30 – 4:30 PM: Chili Cookoff featuring local culinary talent
  • 1:30 – 5 PM: Brewfest with local breweries and distilleries

Come out, shake off the fall blues, and enjoy a day of food, drink, and outdoor fun!

Snowmaking plans for the Outing Club

The LOC started work on bringing snowmaking to the hill in April. With unreliable natural snow and last year only being open for about eight days due to lack of snowfall, the Outing Club felt it was time to look at snowmaking. While there is much work to be done in the planning, permitting, and execution, the committee has spoken to Cochran’s Ski Hill in Richmond, Hard’ack Recreational Area in St. Albans, and others involved in snowmaking to learn about their systems and develop a plan.

The committee is also actively seeking donations. Below you will find the two latest status reports. If you would like to donate or help with the project instead of a monetary donation once we are ready to build, please contact David Wiliams at (802) 745-7115 or Wendy Beattie at (802) 626-9781 or email board@skilyndon.com.
