NEKCA’s Parent Child Center Sponsoring Free Sunday Morning Sledding at the Lyndon Outing Club

On Sunday, January 10th, from 9:30 AM- 11:30 AM, we hosted the first of six sledding days sponsored by the Northeast Kingdom Community Action Parent Child Center. The first event was a huge success and we appreciate that everyone stuck to the COVID-19 guidelines. Thank you to Scott Dickman and Zack Starling, part of our lift operator crew, who came and did all the heavy lifting to set up the event who kept things running smoothly all morning. Thank you to all of the patrons who came out and enjoyed some great exercise, fresh air, and free hot Cocoa.

Zack Starling and Scott Dickman, two of this year’s lift crew, making the day run smoothly.

We appreciate that people are willing to share the tubes and sleds and be responsible for returning them. It’s nice to know we live in an area where people are helpful and honest, and we don’t have to worry about things wandering off. We hear all too often that people’s skis disappear at ski areas, so we appreciate that everything was turned in, that other people can enjoy them too. Thank you, thank you!

When are the next sledding days?

There are still four more sledding days to be enjoyed over the next five weeks. These will take place on:

  • Sunday, January 17th (9:30 am to 11:30 am)
  • Sunday, January 24th (9:30 am to 11:30 am)
  • Sunday, January 31st (9:30 am to 11:30 am)
  • Sunday, February 7th (9:30 am to 11:30 am)

Please remember, no sledding is allowed on the hill ANYTIME it is open for skiing or riding. There is a large increase in the number of people using the hill this winter, which is wonderful! However, we want everyone to remain safe, so please respect the rules and COVID-19 guidelines this season to continue providing the community with fun outdoor activities.

What to know before you go to the sledding day!

Let’s start with the fun stuff first! This is a FREE event and there will be one FREE hot cocoa available for each person in attendance. Please bring your own sleds if you have them. If you do not own a sled you can sign out one of our sleds or tubes. There is a limited number of sleds available and will be signed out for a set amount of time, based on the number of people there.

Now we need to cover the rules we are implementing to keep everyone safe! Social distancing and mask-wearing are required. When you arrive, you must sign in for contact tracing! The lodge will NOT be open to the public. The kitchen will NOT be open. There will be NO restroom available. Please plan accordingly.
